International Womens day and inclusion!

March 8th is International Women’s Day! A day to celebrate the achievements of women and raise awareness about gender discrimination and inequality. Join us for games tonight at the Herdsman at 6.30, we’ll have a selection of Women designed games to play.

The theme for this year is Inspire Inclusion: “When we inspire others to understand and value women’s inclusion, we forge a better world. And when women themselves are inspired to be included, there’s a sense of belonging, relevance, and empowerment.”

We are proud to be breaking gaming stereotypes with the many women who make up our volunteer team and regular attendees.

We strive to create a safe and inclusive environment for women by:

Having a code of conduct for all members that does not tolerate misogyny, harassment or discrimination of any kind.

Having a team of identifiable volunteers who can be approached about any concerns.

Promoting gender inclusive language and challenging negative stereotypes.

Regularly taking feedback on how we can improve.

We want to take this chance to share these games made by women and non binary folk in this list curated by Elizabeth Hargrave.

Some are available to play at our events or borrow from our library. We particularly enjoy:

Wingspan by Elizabeth Hargrave
Bananagrams by Rena Nathanson
Abandon All Artichokes by Emma Larkins
Kluster by Paula Henning
Yogi by Bez Shahriari
Fluxx by Kristin Looney

We have over 400 games in our library only 22 are designed by women!

Let us know which games from the list are your favourite!
